Great news — live police disclosure turnaround information is here!
The new metrics module is now live in Rapid and visible to every user.
This update gives users valuable insights into response times, helping you set customer expectations and manage caseloads more effectively. Accessing and viewing the data comes at no additional charge, and this is just one of many new features being added to the user dashboard.
How does it work?
The module is intuitive to use, allowing you to view turnaround times by selected period, by police force, and by average, shortest, or longest response times. Results are further broken down by report type, so you can explore differences between response times for Crime Reports, Third Party Details, or Full RTC Reports.
The data is automatically populated and calculated from all cases originating in Rapid. Please note that cases migrated from the old Rapid Police Reports platform are not included due to data limitations in RPR. As a result, turnaround data will continue to improve in accuracy and usefulness as more cases are processed within Rapid.
Understanding the data
The data within the system is specific to NetWatch. Because Rapid streamlines what is typically a complex process, turnaround times reflect expectations for each force when using Rapid. This is particularly relevant when reviewing the shortest response times.
Average figures may be skewed by cases with lengthy investigation tails. Similarly, when filtering by longest time, the data will naturally point to investigations that remain open for extended periods. As the dataset grows, we will add further functionality to this module — including medians, trends and other insights — to provide a clearer picture.
A force without a data column indicates no reports were received in the selected period from that force. As Rapid is still relatively new, some forces currently show no data - indicating response times exceeding five months.
Key insights
It's important to stress that at the moment the data is limited, but it will become more meaningful over time as volumes through Rapid increase. Here's what its telling us right now...
- Average response time across all forces we’ve received reports from is 45 days.
- Forces with the most significant delays are Cumbria, Essex, Nottinghamshire, West Mercia, West Midlands & Wiltshire, all of which are still processing disclosure requests received over five months ago (prior to the launch of Rapid).
- Longest Turnaround Right now the longest turnaround on record via Rapid is 224 days with Surrey Police, in reality there are numerous requests outstanding that will exceed this - but they did not originate in Rapid so aren't included.
We’ll be sharing further and more meaningful updates as the dataset grows.
